Who is your favorite person in the world?
You!
Ever Feel Like Your Facebook posts are only reaching a handful of folks. You may be right.
And so I bet when it is your birthday you love being told happy birthday.
Facebook makes it easy for us to do this with our Facebook friends by reminding us daily who is celebrating.
So go down the list and say hi and your greeting.
But this goes much further beyond your normal social niceties.
Buried in Facebook.
When you get to a few thousand friends and are a frequent poster in Facebook you suffer from Dunbar.
What is Dunbar?
Well it is the idea that you cannot properly be friends with more than 150 or so people.
Although this is true in the real world, we are not necessarily friends or pals with our social media peeps.
So the pals like family and dear friends often get buried in Facebook and we never see each others posts.
Posting a happy birthday forces us to daily go out into the deep Facebook and say hi.
Just today I did that and my wife’s cousin (whose stuff I rarely see) liked a well wish to another friend whose posts I rarely get to see.
So this trains Facebook that our activity has expanded to these two people. So there is more of a chance that they will see our stuff too.
